Swinney and Forbes to attend investment summit – Daily Business

First Minister John Swinney and Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes will join an international guest list at Scotland’s Global Investment Summit in Edinburgh next month.

Hosted by Scottish Financial Enterprise and the Lord Mayor of London, attendees include Andrew Bailey, the Governor of the Bank of England, Nikhil Rathi, chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority and Juergen Maier, chair of Great British Energy.

The event at the RBS campus at Gogarburn is the first of its kind to be staged in Scotland and aims to attract significant international investment into the economy.

It takes place on 6 and 7 October, with the first day dedicated to visits to various locations for investors.

Speakers on the second day include Paul Thwaite, chief executive of NatWest Group; Carolyn Jameson, senior independent director at Scottish National Investment Bank; Hannah Gurga, director General at ABI; Chira Barua, chief executive at Scottish Widows; and Sandy Boss, chair at BlackRock UK.

The UK Government’s ministerial participation will be announced shortly.

Mr Swinney said: “Bringing together senior leaders from government, finance, and industry, this summit is an opportunity to showcase our country’s many strengths — from innovation and infrastructure to our world-class talents.

“I am grateful to our partners at the City of London Corporation and Scottish Financial Enterprise for bringing this world-class event to Scotland.”
