United Airlines resumes Glasgow-New York flights – Daily Business

UA will return to Glasgow for first time since 2019

United Airlines is restoring direct flights between Glasgow and New York as one of four additional transatlantic routes.

The airline, which has more destinations across the Atlantic than any US carrier, will be the only US operator to launch nonstop flights via Newark/New York, also connecting Split (Croatia), Bari, (Italy), and Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The daily seasonal service between Glasgow and Newark/New York will be the first since 2019 ahnd will begin on 8 May until 23 September.

It will provide a nonstop connection on a Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft. United already serves Edinburgh year-round.

Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “The United States remains one of our most important trading partners, and with east coast of America being a priority export market for the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, this news will strengthen efforts in attracting inward investment and international trade.”

Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, said: “With the addition of these new flights and the return of all of our new routes from last year, United now flies to 46 cities across the Atlantic – more than any other airline – and is the clear flag carrier of the US.”

The airline is also adding its first service between Washington-Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, as a new nonstop year-round daily service from Newark/New York to Seoul, South Korea, and four additional weekly flights, for 18 total weekly flights, between Newark/New York and Tel Aviv, Israel.
