

FinTech Scotland has hired Aleks Tomczyk as chief executive to replace Nicola Anderson who is taking up a new role at Scottish Enterprise.
Mr Tomczyk joins immediately as designate CEO to work with Ms Anderson until she joins SE as a senior director at the end of the year.
In her five years at the helm of Fintech Scotland Ms Anderson has helped lead innovative research and a number of initiatives, including the Financial Regulation Innovation Lab and the UK’s first FinTech Research and Innovation Strategic Roadmap.
These initiatives have served to strengthen the fintech sector in Scotland and continue to enhance its position as a leader in financial innovation.
Mr Tomczyk will build on the foundations now in place, iincluding a broad range of over 30 industrial and academic strategic partners, and a highly-engaged fintech community of 250-plus SMEs.
Stephen Ingledew, who was Fintech Scotland’s inaugural CEO and is now chairman, said Ms Anderson had delivered “inspiring leadership” which resulted in FinTech Scotland “being recognised nationally and internationally as a leading cluster management organisation.”


He said Mr Tomczuyk’s appointment follows a detailed search process which “focused on what is needed for the next stage of our journey.”
Ms Anderson said: “It’s been a privilege to lead Fintech Scotland for the past five years and to work with so many committed and collaborative partners. We can all be proud of the fintech cluster we have collectively built and the positive impact of businesses and people in shaping the economy.
“I know Aleks will be a huge success in this role and look forward to continuing to work with him.
Looking to the future I am excited by my new role which will focus on extending my experience and impact through fintech further.”
