Scottish firm VITA, one of the largest independent VAT advisers outside Greater London, has posted strong results, with further solid growth to come in the current financial year.

Turnover in the twelve months to September 2025 rose by 46% on the previous year to just under £500,000.

On the back of a steadily broadening portfolio of clients, the company is forecasting turnover to rise by a further £200,000.

The business, which was founded six years ago, has made substantial inroads into professional services, providing support and advisory services to a number of accountancy firms as well as engaging directly with large corporates, third sector organisations and SMEs.

Founder and senior partner, Greg McNally, who led the Glasgow VAT team at PwC and was, more recently, a VAT partner at Azets, said: “This has been an excellent year, in which we have not only increased our headcount but have established new service lines and won two small awards as well as being short-listed for two major ones.

“To accommodate growth, we have moved into bigger new office space, created valuable information and networking opportunities and introduced streamlined practice management.”

VITA – an acronym of VAT and Indirect Tax Advisors – has also introduced a specialist CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) service line, under the direction of partner Craig Stobo.

CBAM, a new form of tax that will be introduced to the UK from January 2027, aims to put a cost on carbon emissions and ensure that imports will carry the same carbon costs, create a level playing field and reduce companies’ temptation to circumvent the measures by switching production to other, less regulated, countries.

In course of the year, VITA appointed Big Four-experienced Elaine Shepherd as an Aberdeen-based partner and hired Tony Cochrane as a director and Chantal Scheepers as practice manager.
