Las Vegas has had a rough summer, as visitor volume declined in July by 12%, after tumbling in June by 11.3%, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Hotel occupancy also dropped by 7.6% in July year-over-year to 76.1%, compared to 83.7% in July 2024, the authority reported, according to KLAS-TV.
Adding to the misery, Harry Reid International Airport, located just off the Las Vegas Strip, reported airline passenger counts were down by 4.4% in July.
Las Vegas visitor volume:

- June 2025, 11.3% decline.
Despite the disappointing data, 1,000s of fans continue to sell out theaters and arenas on the Las Vegas Strip for some of the biggest performers in the music business.

In response to these popular music residencies, hotel-casinos on and off the Strip continue signing new residencies and extending existing ones.

Casinos have been busy signing popular rock, pop, and country acts that continue selling out shows.
Hard rock band Def Leppard will return to the Las Vegas Strip for its third residency with 12 shows in their Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Feb. 3-28, 2026.
Def Leppard’s residency comes four months after Mötley Crüe’s residency at Dolby Live at the Park MGM, which continues Sept. 17, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, Oct. 1, and 3, 2025.
Lionel Richie returns to Wynn residency in October
Giant pop singer Lionel Richie extended his King of Hearts residency in the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas for six shows on Oct. 15, 17, 18, 22, 24, and 25, after selling out a three-show engagement in April 2025.
Country superstar Blake Shelton performed a sold-out, six-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in February 2025, and signed on for eight more shows at The Colosseum in January 2026.

Eagles add 4 shows to Sphere residency
And now, legendary rock band Eagles have added four more shows by popular demand to their sold-out “Live In Concert At Sphere” residency at Sphere Las Vegas, scheduled for Jan. 23, 24, 30, & 31, 2026.
The additional shows will increase the residency’s number of performances to 48 at Sphere since the band launched the residency on Sept. 20, 2024, and will tie the band for the most concerts at the venue with Dead & Company, once Eagles complete their Jan. 31, 2026, show.

Advance Artist presale registration is underway at eagles.com, with the presale beginning on Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and Sphere presales begin on Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. Pacific.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. Pacific.
Ticket prices start at $175 with all-in pricing, which includes all taxes and fees.

Iconic rock band U2 opened the Sphere on Sept. 29, 2023, with its U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency, which ran for 40 shows and ended on March 2, 2024.
Eagles will match U2’s 40 shows performed at Sphere Las Vegas when it completes its Oct. 11 show and will surpass U2 on Oct. 31.
Eagles will match Dead & Company’s record residency
The band will match Dead & Company’s 48 shows when it completes its Jan. 31 show.
“Look, they can play as long as they want,” Sphere Entertainment’s James Dolan said.
