The Government is Now Shutdown
Happy Q4 to those who celebrate. To start off the seasonally strongest quarter, the government is shut. It’s the first shutdown since 2019.
This is little surprise to anybody who’s been paying attention. A last ditch effort for President Donald Trump to win over Democrats, who are grandstanding over proposed cuts to health care, failed on Monday. A bill proposed by Democrats was subsequently bounced on Tuesday, while only a few Dems defected to vote on the Republican CR.
Trump has indicated that he might take advantage of the shutdown to conduct layoffs across government; other programs and “benefits” might also be cut, according to the President.
